Lithosphere 2024 Symposium November 12-14, 2024
The National ILP Committee of Finland organizes the 13th Lithosphere Symposium during Nov. 12–14, 2024 in Otaniemi, Espoo, Finland. The symposium is aimed for all geoscientists studying problems of the lithosphere in general and the Fennoscandian lithosphere in particular. The language of the symposium is English.
The symposium will feature a keynote talk by Prof. Alireza Malehmir from Uppsala University, Sweden. Other invited speakers are Prof. Gregor Hillers from University of Helsinki and State Geologist Stefan Luth from Geological Survey of Sweden.
The symposium has the following themes:
- Fennoscandian lithosphere from upper crust to asthenosphere
- Precambrian and Phanerozoic evolution of Fennoscandian lithosphere
- 3D and 4D modeling of lithosphere structures and evolution
- Orogenies: Structure, deformation, magmatism and metamorphism
- Neotectonics, seismicity, deglaciation and postglacial uplift of Fennoscandia
- Natural resources and metallogeny
- Scientific drilling projects in Fennoscandia
- Geophysical studies of lithosphere structures
- Short communications and briefings on new and on-going projects

Please feel free to download and print copies of the Lithosphere 2024 meeting flyer for posting in your department, survey or organisation. We welcome national and international contributions from researchers studying any of the themes posted above.
Participation fees and practicalities
- Fee for regular participation: 130 €
- Fee for student participation (includes postgraduate students): 30 €
- Late registration fee after normal registration deadline until start of the meeting: 150 €, no student discount
- The participation fee includes the coffee/tea service during breaks and an ice-breaker party. The fee is charged by invoicing the participant after registration.
- Self-paid lunch may be bought at restaurant Maukas and several other restaurants nearby.
- Participants themselves are responsible for arranging and paying for their accommodation.

Time: November 12, 2024, 17:30 onwards

The conference “dinner”
Time: November 13, 2024, 18:30 onwards
This will be an informal event, after the meeting ends on Wednesday we gather in Oluthuone Kaisla in the Helsinki city center for drinks and food at everyone's own expense. In the registration form tick the Conference dinner if you have a semi-serious intention to join in, it does not commit you anything as it is simply to give us and the restaurant some sort of idea how many people to expect.
