Lithosphere 2021 Symposium January 19-20, 2021                                            

The National ILP Committee of Finland organizes the 11th Lithosphere Symposium during Jan. 19 - 20, 2021. The symposium is virtual meeting. The symposium is aimed for all geoscientists studying problems of the lithosphere in general and the Fennoscandian lithosphere in particular. The language of the symposium is English.

The symposium has the following themes:

  • Fennoscandian lithosphere from upper crust to asthenosphere
  • Precambrian and Phanerozoic evolution of Fennoscandian lithosphere
  • 3D and 4D modeling of lithosphere structures and evolution
  • Orogenies: Structure, deformation, magmatism and metamorphism
  • Neotectonics, seismicity, deglaciation and postglacial uplift of Fennoscandia
  • Natural resources and metallogeny
  • Scientific drilling projects in Fennoscandia
  • Seismic studies of lithosphere structures
  • Short communications and briefings on new and on-going projects

     Although the symposium is organized as a virtual meeting, the program will consist of oral and poster presentations and short communications as in earlier Lithosphere Symposia. An abstract volume will be published in the Report Series of the Institute of Seismology, University of Helsinki. Student posters are evaluated and the best poster will be rewarded. We encourage preparing your presentation in normal style (orals as ppt slide shows, and posters as A0 size wall papers).

Participation fee

There is no fee for the symposium.

Registration: January 14, 2021
Meeting starts on January 19 (Tue) at 10:00 and ends on January 20 at 16:45.
